Although Rockwood is engineered in Australia, it is built locally in Port Elizabeth in close collaboration with Waikato SA. Product development and a commitment to continual improvement is a hallmark of Rockwood. This philosophy is clearly demonstrated in every Rockwood turntable built. Development takes many forms and is done for a variety of reasons but the end results is always focused on customer satisfaction.
The steel components of each platform are pre-formed in the factory and fully galvanised prior to reaching your site. Steel "I" beams support the deck and reinformcing mesh along with "D" bar is used to strengthen the overall structure. The reinforcing steel is welded at every point to ensure excellent electrical earth grounding characteristics. Brackets for receiver groups, meal feeders, bail gates and cup removers are pre-built and welded to the main components before galvanising.
Drive posts and rollers are contructed from heavy-duty materials, set in place by laser, and tuned to perfection during the building process. Industrial rollers and heavy-duty bearings are easily replaced if the need arises. Rollers have an exclusive set-up procedure to improve the initial positioning of each roller in relation to the centre point. The result is better tracking and much longer track life.
The track oiling system is unique. Not only does it progressively oit the track, it has a pump and track wiper that catches any excess oil. Provided the correct grade of oil is used a track oiling system will maintain a constant supply of lubricant ensuring free running and excellent track condition at all times.

Products
Centrus composite rotary platforms offer superior deck strength. They are around 90% lighter and five times stronger than traditional concrete alternatives.
The Centrus 84 composite rotary platform is the largest platform designed and manufactured by Waikato Milking Systems following on from the success of the Centrus 54 and 60 bail platforms. Using technology developed specifically for this project and the most modern composite materials available, the unique Centrus 84 provides the size, strength and durability required by a global market where very large herds and 24/7 milking are common place.
The deck sections of the Centrus 84 are formed in a multi-layer laminated process that includes Kevlar a material used in the construction of aircraft. The result is a superior strength deck and a platform that has seven times the structural capacity of a concrete platform in the circumference and 29 times the structural capacity in the radial direction. Each Centrus 84 deck segment is a fully integrated and self-contained structure engineered to include the mounting system needed to attach to the steel “I” beam. When bonded together, with a unique high strength adhesive, the deck connects directly to the “I” beam avoiding the need for a steel platform substructure. The rotation of the Centrus 84 composite rotary platform is supported by Waikato Milking System’s new revolutionary self-aligning Pivot Roller.
