MelroseCor is ‘n filiaal van die AgrivestCor Groep met beleggings in die landbou sektor. Dit was ‘n plesier om weer met Waikato SA en Northfield Engineering te kon werk om te help met die beplanning en ontwerp van die nuwe 66 punt draaitafel op MelroseCor. Die besluit om die roete van ’n draaitafel te gaan was vergemaklik deur die voordele wat dit inhou om meer effektief te kan boer. Dié was die 2de projek waar AgrivestCor gebruik gemaak het van Waikato SA en Northfield Engineering. I love how easy it is to fit the collars on the cows and the fact that they are no fuss to manage. For me, as a pasture farmer, the biggest advantage to my business is heat detection. We just don’t miss heats. Our cows walk between 2 and 9 kilometres a day and this has no effect on accuracy. The automatic sort works well and all cows are ready for me to work with.

Afimilk is a management tool which allows one to run larger herds while simultaneously managing the individual cow. One such aspect of the system is the individualized feeding of each cow. This is of particular value to South African farmers who calve year-round. As cows are in-lactation at different stages the individual feed program ensures all cows are adequately fed. The Afimilk reports are extremely helpful in that you can confidently identify the best and worst heifers and cows, which then allows one to make informed decisions when culling and breeding. On the whole, the Waikato Milking System is an efficient, reliable and user-friendly system.

The entire cloud system is also significantly better, it’s not easy to lose data. I also enjoy the mobile app - Afi to go Pro; while moving through the herd in the pastures I can input the cows number and see if she is pregnant or on heat. If I see a cow that I want to AI I can set for her to be sorted at the next milking. I really like the benefit of seeing the herd status even when I am not on the farm. Everything on V5 is better, I would highly recommend all Afimilk users to changeover to V5.
